Remember to Congratulate our newest Black Belts!

As of Saturday, December 17th five students earned their Black Belts. Pictured below are David Garvey, Eric Wei, Sharon Wei, Bradley Hartlove, and Matt Garvey.

David and Matt started karated karate together in 2004 when they joined KIMAC's Lil' Dragons Class. In the Lil' Dragons class they learned important values, like respect and confidence in oneself, along with basic beginner Martial Arts techniques. As they grew older, they were invited into the Youth Karate Program at Kent Island Martial Arts Center. After training for about eight years the boys tested for their Black Belts. Not many students have the dedication and passion for Martial Arts to stay with the program from Lil' Dragons to Black Belt, but they are proof that it can be done. Congratulations Dave and Matt, all of your instructors are very proud of you!

At the age of four, Bradley Hartlove began training in Martial Arts in the Lil' Dragons class, similar to Matt and Dave. After a few years of training, he too was invited into the Youth Karate Program. His dad, now an instructor at KIMAC, began taking classes with Bradley around this time. The two of them attended class on a weekly basis and trained together. It was an excellent opportunity for some fun family time. Not only was he an inspiration for his Dad to join, his younger sisters are now in the program as well. Bradley helps instruct small groups during class and is an excellent example of how students can grow in the program and become leaders. Pound for pound, Bradley is possibly one of our best sparring partners, and his enthusiasm encourages those around him. Congratulations Bradley, we are proud of you!

Eric and Sharon Wei are yet another sibling duet at KIMAC. Eric began Martial Arts in 2005. Over the years he has improved in skill and technique and continues to grow as a student leader and assistant instructor. Over the past few months, he has impressed the Head Instructors with his enthusiasm, initiative, and Black Belt Attitude. Eric inspired his older sister, Sharon, to join Martial Arts. Sharon also received her Black Belt on Saturday. She is a very talented young lady, who works hard in class and is the perfect model for classroom conduct to other students. Sharon is not only successful in Martial Arts, but also plays a variety of sports, and has been noticed in school for her academic achievements. Congratulations Eric and Sharon, we can't wait to see where your Martial Arts journey takes you next, hopefully to become Head Instructors!

Congratulations to our newest Black Belts.
